Maria Markesini was born in Greece, where she grew up as a child, but currently lives in the Netherlands and holds both nationalities.
She studied classical piano at the Athens Conservatory, and continued her studies at the Rotterdam Conservatory of the Netherlands and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Belgium where she graduated as a piano soloist.
Passionate and always driven to perfotm, she loved jazz and gospel along with classical music.
A temporary arm injury that forced her once to cancel a piano recital would change things for ever for her. She started then experimenting with her voice, and a whole new chapter as a vocalist opened up in her career.
She nowadays performs mostly as a jazz and gospel vocalist but gives sporadically classical concerts as well.

She has performed in many European countries, at concert halls, theaters, international jazz and classical festivals in solo recitals or as a soloist with Orchestras such as the Hungarian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the city of Prague, the Trier Symphonic Orchestra, the Elbland Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bayerse Philharmonie, the Saint Petersburg Symphonic Orchestra, the Presidential Orchestra of Turkey, the Dutch Ricciotti youth Orchestra, and has performed with many ensembles and international artists such as Richard Bona, Bert van den Brink, the Klazz brothers, James Morrison, Candy Dulfer, Mimis Plessas and many others, in Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Greece, Austria, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Ukraine, Moldavia and Turkey.

Her latest cd album "Cinemapassionata" is currently out on Sony Classical Germany.
